I was having dinner the other day with Jeff and Michelle--two of my first dog training clients, when I branched out on my own and started South Bay K-9 Academy in Southern California, in 1994. I've always thought it was interesting the one thing people appear to remember from my 324 site dog training book, 'Secrets of the Professional Dog Trainer' is that I would suggest spitting in your dog's food. Like this were the magic key to obtaining a well behaved dog. Regardless, it appears to be the single thing that almost everyone remembers--from literally hundreds of dog training recommendations I present in the book, on our site Dogproblems.com, and inside our forum. Why do I suggest spitting in your dog's food? As you are observing the dog food along with your fragrance. And because the Alpha dog in the package always takes first. It is a simple way to speak to your dog that you are the group leader. But this alone won't do it. You must be acting just like a pack leader in most other facet of your dog's life, too. Including being the first to ever walk through a door. Or showing your pet where to set down, and when he is permitted to eat. And making sure you follow-through and apply any and every demand that you provide. I have a lot of guff from people--especially other dog trainers--who misinterpret my advice and believe that spitting in your dog's food is the only thing you have to do tol make you the Alpha dog. It's maybe not. Well, not any more than the 100 other subtle things you must do to communicate that you're the group leader. I stress to new dog owners that the more things you are doing to reinforce that you are the pack leader for your dog, is likely to make your dog watch you whilst the pack leader, faster. Spitting in your dog's food is simply one more thing to achieve that helps. So anyway, back once again to my supper with Michelle and Jeff When I asked how Dotty was doing, Jeff answered that Dotty was absolutely wonderful. The top dog they'd actually had, due in no small part to their diligence and persistence in implementing the dog training techniques I showed them. But Jeff said some thing very interesting 'I'm nevertheless spitting in her food. In case people need to dig up further about mobe scam, we know about many libraries people should consider pursuing.
