Many years ago I got switched on to using live bait. Before that time I had used worms. Yes viruses are live bait too, but the world of live bait is much greater than a crawler on a hook. Crawdads, minnows, and crickets are also a huge element of live bait fishing. I have enjoyed using every type, but crickets were my first venture into the other-world of live bait fishing. An excellent friend of mine, Tom, first showed me how to work with crickets when stream fishing for bass. We were Trout fishing the Silver Fork out part of Kyburz, California. The water was running and the landscape remarkable. Our plan was to hop rocks from up above and fish our way down stream. Ben grabbed a black cricket out from the cricket cage and said, You simply run the land beneath the collar. What? Was this cricket wearing a coat or something? I found that just behind-the head of the cricket is something that looks like a collar. The trick is to gently guide your land under the collar and out the other side of the collar without eliminating the cricket. It's really much easier than it might seem. Next I went for a fishing bobber and was quickly repaired by Tom. No Bobber and if I needed, just the lightest of the sinker. The concept was to cast onto the rushing water and let the cricket float down stream. I examined by cricket teacher as h-e gently made his point onto the water and the cricket floated down the creek. He then was gone. Fish on Ever since then I've learned that lots of people use crickets for a number of other fish including Breen and Panfish. This method is different from the one I used my first-day. A lot of people use a bobber or a drift with a no 6, #8, or #10 hook. Then they put a split shot about 6 inches from the cricket. The idea would be to let the cricket slowly and normally descend through the water. To discover additional info, please check-out www.ocfloatcenter.com/. Much like Panfish, until you find the appropriate place you'll take to many times and might adjust your bobber depth. I've learned that fish like variety in their diet, just like we do. Live bait is definitely preferred by fish over artificial and they can strike at it aggressively. So feel free to explore a live bait choice to worms. Crickets The other live bait..
