One of my girlfriends kids got the drinking water confused and used it as the shower water. By day 2 we had to resort to boiling the water for drinking. Thankfully there was a creek nearby and we were able to refill and boil repeatedly. Thats when I remembered I had the portable water filter in my vehicle, and gave it a whirl. I was able to drink straight from the creek without issues, but it worked best sitting in my water canister. It takes a few seconds for the water to soak into the filter, but once its saturated you can take some big gulps. Im not sure if I would try this in the Nile, but it worked like a charm for me, and I didnt get sick or anything.
