It was a normal day at the TV station, I was the sales supervisor, and also accountable for writing, shooting, and editing some of the stations TV ads. There was always plenty to do in the small non-profit place in southern New Mexico. It was the very first time that Id worked in a television station, especially a Christian programming station, having spent the majority of my career in popular radio as much as that point. I still remember the day that I first went into that station with my resume in hand, handed it over the table to the station supervisor, saying, Im Dianne James, heres my resume, and Id like to do the job. He viewed the resume and wed an excellent talk. At the conclusion of this talk, he explained, Well, you will have to accomplish sales in addition to other work... I had heard that before. I had done that before, not television, but I understood that if I could sell carrots, watermelons, and radio airtime, I could sell television. Also, there clearly was a far more crucial function to this work. I did perhaps not know it then, but it was a way to help people, and to produce a huge difference. The-money was not great, since it was a non-profit, but it was also my first television job. The only real other TELEVISION station I had ever even visited was, as a kid, on my birthday when I was permitted to ring the bell on the Admiral Foghorn Show, a-kind of West Texas edition of Captain Kangaroo, in Odessa Texas. I did so not mention Admiral Foghorn. I would be one-of three salespeople, and would head out with the director to fulfill my assigned customers, during these first days on the job. Well, in a perfect world, that would have happened. The manager was an incredibly busy man. H-e didnt have time to hold someones hand and introduce them to everyone else. So, one day while waiting for him to get off the phone, I decided not to wait any more. I left and started making cold calls. Months passed until 1 day while heading into the control room, I tripped and fell on a small little step-down into the room. To get supplementary information, consider taking a view at lee mcfarland. I did maybe not know a humans foot can bend that far backwards. I really could not walk. Naturally, I was o-n crutches for some months, and holding a brief scenario, making sales calls, and at the same time it had snowed. Perhaps not a nice experience. After an especially slow sales month, I was thinking that maybe this job was not meant for me, after all. My supervisor called me in to the office one day and said he wanted me to become the sales manager. Hed always been the sales manager, and, to my knowledge, no-one else had ever held that position except him, therefore I remained. The staying proved to be a learning experience. If you think anything, you will certainly wish to research about visitwebsitejip - StreetFire Member in US. It had been within my tenure since the sales manager that a woman went in to the station, desperate and hopeless. I asked her if I can help her, and she looked somewhat confused. She said, with a slight Spanish accent, I dont know, I just came in here, I dont know why. My daughter got killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Cruces, and I recently got out of court. I saw pain in her eyes. Tremendous pain. She was on the verge of tears, as she relayed the story of how her son just been in-the wrong place at the wrong time, when a bullet from a shooting took his life. Id young ones of my own, and at that moment some thing with-in me felt some of her pain. Well, there was no reason for her to be at the TV station, she didnt even know-it was a television station; she said she had just wandered in, from the court house across the street. I discovered the braces o-n her legs, her graying hair and a look in her eyes that made me feel like she believed I could do something about all this. I shared with her, Wait, I will be back. I considered the book of Job, and brought her a Bible from the company. This has helped me often in my own life, and I think itll help if you read this, I informed her. She lay down in the lobby, said ok, and took the Bible, and started to read. I told her Id be in only a little bit. I left the room to provide her time and energy to read it. When I returned, she was gone. The Bible lay o-n the couch, and I wondered if shed even read the passage. I felt bad, that perhaps I should have gone back-to check up on her sooner, but she was gone and nothing could possibly be done. Time passed, and the CBS Sunday Morning staff members had arrive at Alamogordo to shoot a special about gang violence with Yahooskin and Howdy Fowler as a portion of it, with their cross-country camel journey, raising understanding of gang violence. The woman whod wandered in to the station days before was definitely on my head. I eventually found out who she was and called her in Las Cruces, to see how she was doing, she had been so down, so depressed about her son, I had wondered what had happened to her. She mentioned, Yes, I remember you. At the conclusion of the discussion she said, Thank-you. You saved my life. The day she had walked in, I didnt understand what that girl might do. I realized she was in pain, and very frustrated. All I could do was speak with her and she to me, and try to give some hope to her. I then found out that regardless of what our walk or situation in life, we could help people as you go along. Theres no necessity to become a saint to simply help some one, either. Great issue, because I was not. All I knew is that she was so affected, she might commit suicide.
